St Alfege with St Peter's Church of England Primary School

St Alfege with St Peter's Church of England Primary School

Our church school, St Alfege with St Peter's, is a small school with a big vision, and has been part of the community for over 150 years.

The Primary School (with its own nursery) is an inclusive one form entry church school comprising of a vibrant, diverse and aspirational community. At St Alfege with St Peter's, everyone is inspired and challenged to fulfil their full potential, both academically and in their broader educational and personal development. We pride ourselves on our inclusive and supportive ethos, and the difference we can make for our children and families, who are often very vulnerable. This is communicated through our values and the vision that permeates everything we do.

Members of the clergy and several members of the congregation give their time generously as governors leading the school strategically and making regular visits to the school. The clergy and others from the church regularly lead collective worship and volunteer in other ways to help the school. The school also holds special services in the church to celebrate Harvest, Christmas, Easter and the end of the school year. The whole school attends and parents are welcome.

The school runs a foodbank, with the help of a Foundation Governor and a
member of the Church Community. Gifts of food and donations via the church have been regular and significant.

In their 2017 Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodists Schools the school was deemed "Outstanding". The report noted that “The close involvement of the incumbent and parish in the life of the school brings them together in a spirit of service to the wider community.”

In July 2019 the school achieved their best ever SATs results, with 96% of children in Year 6 meeting the expected standards in the reading and maths tests, and 89% meeting the expected standards in writing.

In September 2019 the school welcomed a new headteacher, Mrs Amanda Wilson. Amanda was previously a leader at St Mary Magdalene School in Woolwich and brings with her an enthusiasm to see the children who attend St Alfege with St Peter’s school continue to develop academically, spiritually and in every way.

We are extremely proud of our church school which is a hard working, caring and happy place with wonderful children and exceptional staff.  Find out more here.
