Conservation Insight Tours, May 2019
We are currently delivering our Heart of Greenwich, Place and People project, which has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The project aims to reinforce the church’s position as a heritage asset at the heart of Greenwich, reveal and interpret our hidden spaces and heritage for visitors, school children, their families and a diverse local community.
As part of this project we offered a unique set of insight tours for the general public. During the tour participants had the opportunity to hear from the conservation team at PAYE who have been leading on the building restoration at St Alfege Church. The tour involved climbing four sets of scaffolding to get a behind the scenes look at the masonry repair works up close, whilst also learning more about how the team had developed the project.
